Love is in the Air!

Valentine’s Day is all about celebrating love - romantic love, BFF adoration and appreciation for beloved family members too. Here at Martha’s Farm Animal Sanctuary, there is lots of love in the air and we want to share it with you! So this month we are featuring a few of our dynamic duos, cute couples and special Valentine's matchups.

Tango the goat and Fuzzy the sheep are best friends!

Fuzzy and Tango

Fuzzy the sheep and Tango the goat grew up together. Tango doesn’t care that Fuzzy is not a goat. He loves him regardless. They share a pen at night in the barn. This bonded pair of furry friends came from a loving family who had them as pets. Unfortunately the family’s circumstances changed and they needed a forever home for Fuzzy and Tango where they would be safe and out of harm’s way. It’s not easy to rehome a farm animal. We brought them to the sanctuary where they can spend the rest of their lives together, and make new friends too!

Holly and her calf, Ivy. Two cows on our Sanctuary

Holly and Ivy

Holly and her calf, Ivy, arrived just in time for Christmas last year. They were headed for the meat market but came to us instead. Holly is very protective of her baby because at 5 years old she has likely had many other calves taken away from her. Now they will be together for life at their forever home.

Roosters F.Lawrence and Buddy are best buds!

F.Lawrence and Buddy

F.Lawrence (left) arrived here at the sanctuary at only 6 months old. Buddy (right) immediately took him under his wing, showing him the ropes and the two became fast rooster friends. They pal around all day! F.Lawrence was well loved by his family, but their neighborhood didn’t allow roosters. The family thought they were purchasing all hens from the feed store until the day F.Lawrence started to crow. Unfortunately, this is an all too common story.

Buddy was dumped at the park in Arroyo Grande and eventually ended up at the shelter, where we went and got him. Left to fend for themselves, roosters are easy prey for coyotes and other predators. Thankfully they both have shelter here at our sanctuary and have also found such sweet companionship.

Regina and Sophie

Can you feel the magic between these besties? They are inseparable and look after each other all day. What a special moment they had after the rain finally cleared!

Hearts

Please help us keep the loving, good vibes (and food and medical treatment) flowing here in February and year round by supporting us and donating to our sanctuary. The animals thank you!
