Volunteer FAQ

  • Be sure to wear sturdy, closed toed shoes/boots and clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Wear layers as temperatures here can vary throughout the day.

  • We are about 50 minutes north of the city of Santa Barbara.

  • Volunteer shifts are flexible and can vary, but we are looking for volunteers that can commit a minimum of 3 hours per week, on an ongoing basis.

  • From filling water troughs, feeding, cleaning animal stalls, and checking in on the animals, there are various tasks that are available!

  • Everyone will have the opportunity to interact with most of the animals. Volunteers that devote more time, will be able to interact with the larger and shyer animals.

  • All volunteers must be 18 years of age.

  • To insure the comfort and safety of our animals and yours, no companion animals are permitted.

  • Out of respect for the animals, only plant based foods and beverages are welcome. They may not come into the animal pens.

  • The animals are on personalized diets and cannot have extra snacks unless approved.
